Our feet are our foundation. They absorb impact, support balance, and carry us through every step of life. When they aren’t functioning well, our whole body feels it. Issues like plantar fasciitis, bunions, and arthritis can cause not only foot pain but also discomfort in the knees, hips, and back.
I know this personally. After years of chronic foot issues and surgery, I discovered how powerful myofascial release can be for recovery—restoring movement, easing pain, and even improving gait.
What is Myofascial Release?
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints. When it’s tight or restricted, it limits mobility and creates pain. Releasing the fascia of the feet can:
Relieve plantar fasciitis and bunion discomfort
Improve flexibility in arches and toes
Support joint health in arthritis
Enhance balance and posture
Beyond the Feet
In my September Roll, Release, Restore classes at Shanti Yoga Center and Yoga Melrose, we’ll also target the ankles, shins, and calves—areas that often hold tension and contribute to foot problems. Releasing these tissues can ease:
Lingering effects of ankle sprains
Shin splints
Tight calves that stress both feet and knees
An Invitation
